George Woodall
Junior Naval Architect
MEng (Hons)
Education and professional background
George graduated with an MEng (Hons) in Marine Technology from the University of Plymouth, building a foundation in naval architecture and marine engineering. Throughout his degree, he contributed to a variety of group design projects and validation exercises, developing both technical expertise and collaborative problem-solving skills.
George’s expertise
George is a motivated Junior Naval Architect with solid skills in 3D design and modelling software, enabling him to quickly develop and refine engineering solutions. He applies core engineering principles to evaluate design feasibility and aims to identify optimal real-world performance.
During his studies, George gained experience in seakeeping analysis for vessels and marine structures, contributing valuable insights to improve stability and seaworthiness.
His dissertation, awarded best engineering project and published, focused on retrofitting an air lubrication system on a 2.5m model bulker tested in a towing tank. This research explored the reduction of viscous drag and its effects on vessel stability, demonstrating George’s ability to combine innovative thinking with practical project work.
