David Aulagnon
Naval Architect
(MEng)
Education and professional background
David holds an MSc in Naval Architecture (Distinction) from the University of Strathclyde and a French Engineering degree in Energy from Mines Nancy. His background bridges naval architecture, fluid dynamics, and renewable energy, driven by a curiosity for understanding the underlying physical phenomena that govern engineering systems. For his master’s thesis, he conducted a thermal stress analysis of wind turbine blade composite shells using finite element analysis (FEA), strengthening his expertise in physical modelling, simulation, and structural optimisation within renewable energy applications.
David’s expertise
David is an enthusiastic individual with strong skills in statistics, data analysis, programming, and 3D modelling, keen to develop solutions to address energy and offshore engineering challenges.
Talk to David about:
- Hydrodynamic Modelling
- Mooring and Cable System Analysis
- Structural Integrity
- Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation
Outside of work
David enjoys trail running and regular basketball games with friends, and is always happy to spend time outdoors. Originally from Brittany, he has been sailing since the age of five, building a strong connection to the sea early on. More recently, he has started learning kite surfing, looking forward to improving his jumps… though he still struggles going upwind.
When he’s not outside, David has a real love for music and enjoys discovering new artists, genres, and live performances whenever possible.
